Whats the point of airlines making you put liquids in clear bags?

There's a critical volume where liquid explosives will be dangerous, so the 3oz bottles and the quart baggie is there to limit that volume. This completely ignores the fact that you can bring an empty bottle of any size through security, or just buy on past it.

In reality, it's because the TSA realizes that they haven't hired the best and the brightest, and thus needed a way for the goons to check. Obviously, they still can't accomplish that simple feat.Whats the point of airlines making you put liquids in clear bags?
So they can see their impending doom just before your toothpaste and hairspray decide to explode.Whats the point of airlines making you put liquids in clear bags?

The link above is from the TSA website and it explains exactly why the clear bag.
so that if you attempt to mix two fluids to create an explosive - it will be obvious to everyone aboard the plane and, presumably, someone will stop you.

- that's the rationale :)
Because there are some explosive gel agent stuff that at first sight looks just like regular water.
Good question. I think it's mostly for the convenience of the TSA personnel who have to check your bags. It gets tedious if they have to go through all your stuff with a fine-toothed comb...
