Does any one know how hanging a clear bag of water helps with insects?

I have no idea what you're talking about.Does any one know how hanging a clear bag of water helps with insects?
Okay, here is the straight talk, from the man. Somebody decided that house flys will not fly under water, so they pin a clear bag of water above the doors and windows of restaurants and other places to keep the flys out. Unfortunately, this does not really work. I can tell you this from experience, and from speaking with a real life entymologist. But if those people feel better because they think that bag of water is keeping flys out, I say let them believe.Does any one know how hanging a clear bag of water helps with insects?
...maybe the insects are attracted to the bag so they leave you alone? I'm not quite sure what you are asking though
They see their reflection and don't know how to react.
no but if you hang a brown paper bag stuffed with something you can keep flies away by hanging it in an open door or window. The flies think its a wasps nest and wont fly near it!
its scares them because the c them selfs but in giant size and get scare
I've heard ppl suggests this for mosquitoes because they need to lay their eggs in water. however...it doesn't really work. good old fashion OFF spray works just fine, lol.
I don't know. Water draws insects.
Helps them with what? A source for laying their eggs? i.e. mosquitos, so you can have more of them?!
Its that a fact or are you asking about it?
only if you dump it on the bugs!! cause then they are dead... mwahahaha
I don't know how that works, but I have heard if it. Sorry.
First time i've heard of that....

Maybe it helps mosquitoes find a place to lay lavare...

Don't think you wanna do that...
it helps because the bugs see their reflections on it and it scares them away
I do not KNOW the answer to this question, but I can tell you what I have been told. You hang the bag where the water forms a point at the end and is rounded at the top. It looks like a hive. I have been told that flies only see shapes. They see a ';hive'; and fly away because wasps eat flies.

I don't think there is a lot of ';science'; behind most Old Wive's Tales or home remedies. Many times, though, they work despite the science. This is one of those times!
I had heard, that the bugs looking into the bag see a large reflection of themselves, which is not appealing, but I'm not sure if that is a joke, myth, or true.
If you're talking about fly bags its not clear water...there is an attractant added to it...the flies get into the bag and can't get out. As more flies get in and die it smells and draws more flies in. After a while it REALLY stinks - but it is an effective (although nasty) way of getting flies in paddocks and pastures (hang out of reach of animals).
