My pool had a bag of Red Food Dye thrown in now the water is all Red. Any quick methods to clear it up?

Why don't you do an experiment?


Take a bucket of water from the pool and try adding a few drops of bleach to it. If the color disappears you'll know that this will work. If you have to add a cup of bleach, then shocking is not practical. Emptying is your only option.

Laundry bleach (sodium hypochloride) would probably get rid of it quicker than pool chlorine, but either way, it's going to take some work and at least a few filter changes. The pool is going to be out of adjustment and out of service for at least a few days.

Try a shock treatment if you use chlorine to sanitize your pool. A strong or double dose of pool shock will probably get rid of most of it; worth a try anyway.
Bleeach the colour out with large amount of chlorine
you have to empty the water and fill it back up. otherwise, it'll just stay. using clorine would mess it up more. hope i helped!
You probably should just drain it then give the walls and floor of it a good scrub!

I'm not quite sure, but I think that you could buy pool bleach and it could fix it. But, I'm not sure how long it takes. My uncle has a pool and he puts pool bleach in it, but I don't know if it would fix this problem. You could also just add a lot of chlorine to it, but then again, I'm not quite sure if this would work. The best thing that you could do is to just drain the pool out and then scrub the sides and the bottom of it. I'm sorry that I can't give you any more info. Good luck!!!

Chlorine is a strong oxidizer that is why it makes things turn white. A couple of shock treatments will clear it up. Be sure to get your PH right before doing the shock.





Do a test before anybody gets into the water to be sure the chlorine level is safe again you don't want anybody getting a skin burn.
Shock treatment and sunshine should do the trick within a few days.
Catch the little creep that threw red food dye in it.. dip him so he is good and red.. then shock it.





Unfortunately I was only able to shock the dye out.. not catch the little creep. And it takes a while and multiple treatments and filter changes.
